Medifast Motivation 101

The Medifast Diet is one of the fastest growing weight loss programs in the nation. But just like any other diet program, staying on course can be challenging. With the pressures of everyday life, it can be difficult to stay focused and motivated. Luckily, with these Medifast diet tips, you can find a way to stay on track by setting goals, tracking your progress, finding out what to do if and when you slip up, and good ways to reward yourself when you don’t.

Before starting your Medifast diet, you need to set some goals that you wish to achieve while on the program. These should include both short-term and long-term objectives, and need to be realistic. Short-term goals are comprised of your daily and weekly agendas while long-term consist of monthly, and final goals that you wish to achieve while on the program. Daily goals shouldn’t be weight-loss related, but more focused on your physical activity, and food and liquid consumption. Weekly, monthly, and final weight loss goals need to be realistic. Keep in mind Medifast diet is formulated to help you lose 2-5 pounds a week. Your goals need to be based around you and your schedule. Be sure to discuss your physical activity with your physician. Make sure to write your goals down and post them in a place you will see throughout the day. It is also a good idea to take a picture of yourself before you start your diet and put it with your list of goals.

Once you set your goals and start your diet, it’s time to track your progress. Keeping a daily journal is a very good way to keep your Medifast motivation up. Catalog how you feel both physically and emotionally at the beginning and end of each day. Look back at the end of each week and see if you notice any changes. Logging what you eat on a daily basis is also a big help when tracking your progress. You may also find it helpful to keep a chart of your weight loss next to your scale or by your list of goals. Pick the same day each week to weigh yourself, and try to do so in the morning. It is not recommended to weigh yourself daily, as weight fluctuates normally on a daily basis. As you progress in the program, take time to look back at the progress you have made- not just how much weight you’ve lost, but also any changes in mood, or energy level. Looking at your before picture and seeing a difference, or reading an early journal entry and noticing how much more energy you have for daily activities can be all the motivation you need to keep going the extra mile to reach your final weight loss goal!
