Exercise Tips for Busy Parents

Parenting takes up a big and important part of your daily schedule. When it comes to exercise, while being a parent, it can seem as though you just don’t have the time or the energy. It’s very important to find the time to work some exercise into your busy schedule.  Being a healthier parent will not only increase your energy but also your mood.

Many people are familiar with the term: “Patience is a virtue” and this is proven even more true when you have children. Exercise can improve your mood, decrease your stress and perhaps help you in the patience department as well. There are many benefits to exercise aside from looking great, and if you focus on those it will be easier to stay motivated.

Parents often find it difficult to find the time to work exercise in with their busy schedules. Don’t get discouraged, it is possible if you budget your time correctly.

Get Up and Dance

If you are looking for some exercise time, but don’t want that time to get in the way of the time you spend with your kids, dancing is a great way to burn calories and have some fun with the kids at the same time. Put on some great music and get moving around with your children, not only will you burn calories, but it will help your kids also to get active.

Take Advantage of Naps

If your children are still at the age where they nap during the day, take advantage of that time. At nap time, allow your child to sleep in the stroller while you go for a jog or a long walk. Not only is the fresh air good for your children, but it gives you an opportunity to burn calories.

Involve Your Children

Involve your children in your exercise by participating in sports with them. Incorporating exercise into your play time with your children is a fantastic way to take advantage of your time with your kids while burning calories at the same time. Go to a big field and chase them around, play soccer, basketball, or any activity that involves moving around that your kids love, and you can count that as exercise without having to take time away from them.

Keep the Little Things in Mind

Never forget the little things that can help you burn calories. Opt to take the stairs, park a larger distance from your destination, and move whenever possible.
